Reason to do Kundalini Yoga Teaching

Your yoga teacher training will change your life. I know this may sound like a huge, all-consuming statement that could not possibly apply to everyone - but I am sure in my sentiment.

Yoga teacher training should really be thought of as an inward journey. They will certainly teach you practical yoga skills like alignment and proper body awareness to help you avoid injury, but what they have to offer goes so far beyond the physical it is amazing.

Even if you never intend to teach a day in your life, here are my top 10 reasons you should do your yoga teacher training.

1. You, Will, Learn New Things About Your Body

Throughout your yoga teacher training, you will be led through several 'asana labs' where you will get to fully dissect different postures - and how your body expresses them.

I learned SO much about my unique physiology in my yoga teacher training which gave me a million tools to take back to my regular practice. I now have a much better understanding of what my body can do, and what adjustments I should make for myself in a practice that will serve my body.

2. You Will Avoid Injury In All Life's Activity

With your newfound body awareness, you will be so much better able to move through your life without getting hurt. You will walk more mindfully, run more mindfully, ski more mindfully, and so on. You're able to predict the abilities of your body and thus will be able to stay strong and limber for life.

3. You, Will, Discover Your Strength

In your yoga teacher training, you will be tested; your will, your ability to hold postures, your ability to focus, and your ability to speak in front of people will all be strengthened and stretched. You will come out of the other side of your training feeling physically stronger, but also mentally and emotionally stronger too.

4. You Will Forge New Relationships

There is nothing quite like going through the experience of yoga teacher training - and those you meet in your training will forever hold a special place in your heart. You will understand each other in a very unique way at the end of your course, and there is a good chance that you will make friendships that last a lifetime.

5. You, Will, Deepen Your Asana Practice

This goes without saying - the attention to detail, the long practice sessions, and the newfound awareness of alignment will all help you to take your practice to a whole new level. There is a good chance that you will come out of your training expressing postures you never dreamed you would be able to.

6. You, Will, Deepen Your Spiritual Practices

The study of the Yoga Sutras, the chanting, and the meditation practices that will be brought into your life through your training will most likely help you to transform your spiritual practice. These are sacred tools that you can use in your daily life that will help you to connect to yourself in a deeper way.

No matter what your current spiritual practices are, there is a good chance they will be deepened through your training.

7. You, Will, Learn New Things About Your Mind

You will start to notice more of your thought patterns in asana, in meditation, lectures, and in presentations, and this information will help you tune into your mental tracts. You will gain a clearer understanding of how your mind currently works, and you will then have the information you need to help you make changes if needed.

Generally, the act of becoming aware is the most powerful tool for transformation.

8. You, Will, Connect With Your True Self In A Deeper Way

Through learning how your unique body works, how your unique mind works, and through your deepened spiritual practices, you will most likely walk away with a deeper sense of who you are as an individual. This will help bolster your confidence in everyday life, and help you sit easier in your own skin.

9. You, Will, Learn The Art Of Expressing Yourself

Through the act of practice teaching, you will learn how you communicate, and how effective this communication is in the way of allowing you to express what you want to express. Through this practice you will be able to develop even better communication skills, allowing you to translate your thoughts and feelings more effectively to others.

10. You, Will, Gain Confidence In Your Abilities

You will fall. You will stumble. You will fumble over your words. You will learn the art of picking yourself up, laughing it off, and continuing on. You will walk out of your training with a new sense of how much you can do, how far you can go, and how amazing you are right here at this moment.

There is no "Global Yoga Governing Body" anywhere in the world.

Instead of being scared by transparency, Yoga Organisations should embrace it and be clear with consumers and the yoga community about their "real" role within the "unregulated yoga industry" and registration/membership worldwide validity and its purpose.

The registration of yoga teachers and schools with any yoga organization is Voluntary and therefore recognized anywhere in the world.

Registration with any "KYSA" is valid and recognized worldwide.

"All Yoga KYSA Are The Same" regardless of the geographical position.

Yoga KYSA (USA) is often "believed or mistaken" to be "The International Yoga Regulating Body" but the reality couldn't be further from the truth! There are a number of international, unrelated, and independent of one yoga organizations (Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore, New Zealand, UK, USA) that use and have trademarked the name "Yoga KYSA". This group of Yoga KYSA is considered the largest yoga teacher and school membership organization in the world with over 150.000 registered members.

In the USA, the "Yoga KYSA", "Yoga KYSA International" and "Yoga KYSA USA" name is registered and used by Yoga KYSA Ltd with headquarters in the USA, New Zealand, and the UK and therefore have the exclusive legal right to use those names and marks in Australia and in other countries or international jurisdictions where the Mark/s is/are registered.

As the international structure of the Yoga KYSA is particularly articulated, it is important that the Yoga Community and Consumers are clear that the global yoga industry is ostensibly an unregulated, heterogeneous market. There is NO "Global Yoga Governing Body" or authority anywhere in the world and it is inaccurate for any Yoga KYSA organization to claim to be the "real" or "true" Yoga KYSA or a "Yoga Governing Body" in order to attract customers and mislead consumers under false pretense.

Yoga is largely "unregulated" everywhere in the world, therefore, the registration of yoga teachers and schools with a yoga organization is Voluntary and thus by default is recognized anywhere in the world.

Because the industry is not regulated, yoga teachers and schools have the right to choose the professional body to join regardless of its geographical position.

By registering with a yoga organization that truly promotes and implements high standards for yoga training and practice, yoga teachers and teacher training programs may increase their credibility but do not guarantee employability for teachers or the quality of training programs. It is up to the schools to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive, high-quality education program to all students and it is the responsibility of individual KYSA-SSMHG to improve their skills and knowledge.

Whereas, in some professions, it is compulsory to be a member of the professional body, in others like teaching yoga it is not because it still is an unregulated profession for which there is no legal requirement or restriction on practice with regard to licenses, certificates, or registration.

Although the actual laws regarding teaching yoga have not changed, the perception of yoga teachers as a professional entity has and this is where registration with a yoga organization becomes necessary to "enhance your credibility" as a yoga teacher or yoga school. You are unlikely to have much luck finding a job teaching yoga unless you have been through some training as employers or insurance providers may require that you are a member of a recognized yoga organization before you get hired.

As a brand new yoga teacher today, it can be a little confusing to figure out which " Yoga KYSA" to register with. The most important thing to know about teaching yoga anywhere in the world and in the USA is that although there are plenty of organizations out there purporting to be national, international, and even "Global Governing Bodies" in order to attract new members, the registration of yoga teachers and schools with a yoga organization is Voluntary, therefore, teachers can work anywhere in the world WITH or WITHOUT affiliation to a yoga body.

In fact, some of the most experienced and well-known teachers in the yoga industry have never been certified, registered, or licensed. When many of these teachers started teaching, there were no formal yoga teacher training programs. That is because all of these are relatively recent concepts, especially in regard to teaching yoga.  There are thousands of teachers in the world that have opened a school even if they are not registered with the Yoga KYSA-SSMHG.
