What is mindfulness?
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.
While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis.
Whenever you bring awareness to what you’re directly experiencing via your senses, or to your state of mind via your thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. And there’s growing research showing that when you train your brain to be mindful, you’re actually remodeling the physical structure of your brain.
About the Mindfulness course
Nowadays we are getting busier. A busy, demanding job, family, friends, hobbies, and sports all demand a place in our busy schedules. We often have the feeling that we have lost control of ourselves and that we are being lived by our agenda, by others, or by everything that "must".
Because of all the hustle and bustle, many people lose touch with themselves, their own worth, wishes, and truth. With the Mindfulness course, you learn to get and stay closer to yourself, so that you experience less influence from all the pressure, stay closer to yourself and feel better about yourself.
What can you do with this Mindfulness course?
The Mindfulness course lets you experience step by step how to take your life back into your own hands. You get to know yourself better, become more gentle with yourself, and can improve the quality of your life.
Get to know yourself better
With the Mindfulness course, you get back in touch with yourself step by step. You decide what is important to you, when, and how. This way you pay more attention to yourself and you can better determine what you really want.
The Mindfulness course helps you make decisions that improve the quality of your life. By connecting with who you really are and what you want, and by using those aspects to make your life meaningful for you. And by teaching you how to be a friend to yourself. By being more gentle with yourself, by "having to" less, and by paying more attention to the life of the here and now.
Be stronger and calmer in life
The Mindfulness course brings you closer to yourself. If you know yourself well, you are stronger and you are less influenced by stress and outside pressure. This way your life becomes calmer and you are stronger.
Mindfulness is an expression that comes from Anglo-Saxon language, the origin of which is in Buddhism. It is a state of mind that is characterized by the awareness of one's own physical experiences, feelings and thoughts, without immediately switching to automatic responses.
The current experience
Mindfulness means: being fully aware of the current experience. You can translate the word "mindfulness" with "mindfulness" or "attention." Openness speaks from these words. Attention focuses primarily on noticing. This is different from "attention" and "concentration", where you focus on one subject.
More intense and conscious life
Wherever your attention is, there you are. Mindfulness is about the art of being present in the here and now. With mindfulness you live more intensely and consciously. By directing your attention more often, you learn to distance yourself from the spins in your head. You can concentrate better, you relax more easily. The mind becomes calmer.
You learn to make conscious choices instead of reacting automatically. This allows you to cope with stress stimuli earlier and better and you deal differently with thought patterns that are not helpful. A higher degree of awareness arises and you can better monitor your limits.
The most important results of mindfulness training are:
More awareness and insight into your thought patterns, your reactions, your actions, your emotions and moods (and the choice to sometimes deal with them differently)
being able to take more distance from problems.
life becomes easier and you enjoy more consciously and intensively.
have more energy at your disposal.
Mindfulness Meditation exercises
Mindfulness is a skill. And for skills you have to keep practicing if you want to stay skilled. During your mindfulness training you have experienced what it feels like to be attentive without judgments. Mindfulness makes you live more intensely and consciously, that you enjoy the moment more, that you experience less stress and that your life becomes more enjoyable for yourself and others around you.
